The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story film debuted, establishing Pixar as a major film company and introducing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now household names.
In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a glimpse into the storyline but keeping fans wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a brand new plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer avoids is why the sheriff is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia attached to her outfit.
It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
